The Grand Canyon of Arizona

Hopi Indians at the Grand Canyon, Fred Harvey Photograph from an old postcard

It was the Hopi Indians who directed the Spanish, Coronado’s lieutenants, to the Grand Canyon in 1540.

The Indians in the picture are descendants of this tribe, whose reservation is close to the Grand Canyon. They gaze with admiration upon this vast indescribable expanse of grandeur, one mile deep and 13 miles across at this point.
